Required documents

Citizenship and status in Canada

  • If you were born in Québec, you will not need to provide a copy of your birth certificate or other documentation regarding your citizenship as SRAM will be able to validate your status in Canada with the ministère de l’Éducation du Québec.
  • If you were born in Canada but in a province other than Québec, you must provide a copy of your birth certificate.
  • If you were born outside of Canada and have a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident status, you will need to provide a document proving your status in Canada.
  • If you were born outside of Canada and have a document entitling you to stay in Canada (study permit, work permit, tourist visa, etc.), or a refugee status, you will need to provide a copy of your birth certificate and of your residence permit.
  • If you were born outside of Canada and do not have Canadian status or a resident permit, you will need to apply under the international category and provide a copy of your birth certificate.

Language of documents

Documents transmitted to SRAM must be in French or English. Documents that are not in French nor in English must be translated in either of these two languages, by a certified translator.

Mailing documents is not recommended due to unpredictable delivery times. We recommend that you upload your digital files to your online file instead.

Transcripts and diplomas

  • If you have completed all your high-school studies in Québec, you do not need to provide any academic documents since SRAM will obtain your academic record from the ministère de l’Éducation. The same applies to academic documents for college-level studies in Québec which we can obtain from the ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur.

Schools from a different academic system

If you have completed your studies in Québec, but at a school under a different academic system (e.g.: Collège Stanstead, Collège Marie-de-France, Collège Stanislas), you must provide your transcripts.

  • If you are currently completing your high-school studies in Québec, we must receive your official academic results from your school for the current year. There is an agreement in place stipulating that Québec high schools must electronically transmit student transcripts. However, if you are attending a high school for adults (adult education), you must ask your academic advisor to transmit additional information specific to adult education before the deadline of the round in which you are applying.   
  • If you have completed the equivalent of Québec high-school studies in another Canadian province, you must provide copies of your academic transcripts for Grade 10, 11 and 12 as well as copies of any diplomas you have obtained. If you have completed any post-secondary education, we ask that you provide any related transcripts and diplomas for these studies as well. 
  • If you have completed university studies in Québec, elsewhere in Canada or abroad, you will be asked to provide copies of your university transcripts and of any diplomas you have obtained.
  • If you have completed the equivalent of Québec high-school studies outside of Canada, a comparative evaluation of the studies you have completed abroad is required. You must provide copies of your Grade 10, 11 and 12 academic transcripts as well as copies of your final exam results (where applicable) and of your diploma (if obtained). SRAM absolutely needs the transcripts indicating high-school equivalence since your admission to college-level studies in Québec will be based on these academic documents and they will also be used to determine if you are eligible. For example, if your studies were completed in France, you must provide copies of your Seconde, Première and Terminale academic transcripts as well as your Bac results and copy of your diploma (if obtained).   

Clarifications concerning the comparative evaluation

You can provide the results of a comparative evaluation produced by the ministère de l’Immigration du Québec or request that SRAM produce a comparative evaluation of your studies as part of the process of completing your application file.

The comparative evaluation prepared by SRAM is used only for the purpose of college admission within one of SRAM’s CEGEPs and is never handed out to the applicant. If you want a comparative evaluation for other purposes, you can ask for a comparative evaluation of the ministère de l'Immigration du Québec .

If you have already had a comparative evaluation completed by SRAM as part of a previous application, you will not need to request it again unless you have continued your studies since that application or have additional documentation to provide. If you would like SRAM to use your previous comparative evaluation for your application, please indicate this on the admissions questionnaire when asked. In such a case, you will not have to pay the 50$ fees again for the comparative evaluation.

Language test

A language test is required for certain international applicants. You must upload your test results to your online file. 

The French tests accepted by SRAM are:

  • Bright Canada Mandatory components: Compréhension écrite and Compréhension orale.
  • TCF tout public (TCF Québec and TCF Canada are not accepted) Mandatory components: Compréhension écrite, Compréhension orale and Maîtrise des structures de la langue.
  • DELF tout public niveau B2 Mandatory components: Compréhension écrite, Compréhension orale, Production écrite and Production orale.
  • DALF Mandatory components: Compréhension écrite, Compréhension orale, Production écrite and Production orale.
  • TEF (TEF Express, TEF Québec and TEF Canada are not accepted). Mandatory components: Compréhension écrite, Compréhension orale, Lexique et structure.

The English tests accepted by SRAM are:

Due to a new legislation enacted in 2023 in Québec, students in English colleges now have to pass some classes in French language as well as a Ministerial Examination of College French in order to obtain their diploma.  Consequently, application in an English college might require both French and English proficiency tests.

To find out the minimum threshold required for the language test in order to be eligible, you must contact the CEGEP you wish to attend directly.

International application files will not be sent to any CEGEP until SRAM has received a document providing the results of a language test it endorses.

If you wish to know if a language test is required in your situation, you can complete a mock application for admission .

The CEGEP may ask certain regular applicants to take a language test. In this case, a request is sent shortly after the deadline for the round since the language test results are taken into consideration when evaluating applications. If an applicant does not take the test, his/her application will be refused. 

Other documents

CEGEPs may request or require certain other documents. Here are a few examples: portfolio, letter of recommendation, letter of intent, permit, etc.

You are free to add any other documents to your file if you consider they are relevant to your application.

We strongly suggest that you complete a mock application for admission for admission to see which documents you need to provide before completing your official application.
